Vestibular Rehabilitation at Hiya Health
If you’re struggling with dizziness, vertigo, motion sensitivity or balance issues, you’re not alone – these are common symptoms of vestibular dysfunction, often linked to problems in the inner ear or nervous system.
At Hiya Health, we offer vestibular physio services to assess, diagnose and treat the root causes of these issues, helping you move more confidently through daily life.
Physiotherapy for dizziness and balance issues is a targeted, evidence-based approach known as vestibular rehabilitation. Delivered by specially trained physiotherapists, this therapy retrains your brain and body to process sensory input more accurately – reducing symptoms, improving stability, and restoring your sense of control.
Vestibular Physiotherapy appointments are available at select Hiya Health clinics across Brisbane and the Gold Coast – Burleigh Heads, Labrador and Sunnybank Hills.

What is Vestibular Physiotherapy?
Vestibular rehabilitation is a physiotherapy lead treatment program for those presenting with vestibular dysfunction which most commonly presents as dizziness or vertigo, motion sensitivity and balance difficulties as a result of inner ear pathology. Vestibular physiotherapy uses specific exercises and hands-on techniques to retrain the brain and body to process balance signals correctly. The goal of this treatment is to reduce dizziness, improve stability and balance, and lessen sensitivity to head movements.
What Conditions Can Vestibular Physiotherapy Help With?
Vestibular Rehabilitation is commonly used to treat and manage symptoms of the following conditions:
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
Meniere’s Disease (supportive management of symptoms)
Motion Sensitivity
Age-related Balance Decline
Vestibular Neuritis or Vestibular Labyrinthitis
Dizziness
Vestibular migraine
What Should I Expect During My Appointment?
Your initial session includes a comprehensive assessment of your symptoms, eye movement, balance, neurological function, and response to positional changes. Based on your results, your treatment may then include:
- Manual techniques
- Repositioning maneuvers
- Visual-vestibular exercises
- Balance training
- Education and a home exercise program
How Effective is Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT)?
VRT is highly effective for vestibular hypofunction and other inner ear disorders. Research consistently shows reduced dizziness, better balance, and improved quality of life. Many clients begin to see results in 3–6 sessions, especially when following their prescribed home exercises.
How Long Does It Take to See Improvements?
Some clients feel immediate relief (especially in BPPV), while others notice steady progress over 3–6 weeks. Recovery time depends on the condition, severity, and how consistently home exercises are done.
