Marc Roetteler
Clinic Manager & Exercise Physiologist, Hiya Health Sunnybank
Marc is a dedicated Exercise Physiologist and Clinic Manager at Hiya Health Sunnybank Hills, bringing over a decade of experience in helping clients improve their health through movement. Graduating from the University of Queensland in 2012 with a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science (Masters of Exercise Physiology), Marc has since contributed to research on community-based physical activity programs for individuals with mental health disorders.
The team at Sunnybank is Marc’s focus (as well as his pride and joy). He expects and maintains high clinical standards from his entire team, which is a key factor behind both the growth of the clinic and the positive feedback from the clinic’s regular clients.
Clinically, Marc is an advocate for a multi-disciplinary team approach as he believes that no one person has all the answers on how best to help a client. After a decade in the profession, he has seen how effective it is to treat the client as more than just their condition, which he strives to do with every individual that walks through the clinic doors.
Marc has a strong interest in paediatrics, neurological rehabilitation, and mental health, using evidence-based exercise interventions to support his clients in achieving their goals. His approach focuses on engagement, long-term well-being, and improving quality of life.
Outside of work, Marc is a huge basketball fan. When he isn’t supporting his team, the Dallas Mavericks, he enjoys spending time with his family, developing his garden and educating himself on new technology and research in a variety of interest areas.
“As an allied health professional, you need to be capable of wearing several different hats at once. For your client, in a single session you’ll not just be their practitioner but also their counsellor, adviser, motivational crutch, task master, the list could go on and on. It’s my belief that being able to juggle all these roles seamlessly can be as important as the physical therapy itself. I want my clients to feel they are heard during our sessions together, and I hope that they feel that I genuinely care about their progress and improvement. Being able to help people was the reason I became an Exercise Physiologist in the first place, and it is what drives me to try and improve my clinical skills each day.
My team at Sunnybank Hills is an extension of myself. We are all individuals working towards a common goal, and this is what makes coming into work each day as great as it is for me. I hope we will have the pleasure of your company at our clinic soon so that you too can see the difference our team can make to your life.”
