Alex Tomlinson
Exercise Physiologist, Hiya Health Paddington & Redcliffe
Alex is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2022 with a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology. Her passion for exercise intervention and rehabilitation began in 2017 while studying a Diploma in Elite Dance Performance, where she developed a deep understanding of movement mechanics, functional strength, and the role of exercise in injury prevention and rehabilitation. This foundation led her to explore the broader applications of exercise physiology in supporting individuals with chronic conditions and complex health needs.
During her final year of university, Alex worked as a Pilates instructor, refining her ability to coach clients through controlled, intentional movement patterns. She has since integrated Clinical Reformer Pilates and strength training into her practice, utilising evidence-based exercise interventions to enhance function, balance, coordination, and overall physical strength. She strongly believes that the combination of progressive strength training and functional movement-based Pilates is particularly effective for individuals with neurological and musculoskeletal conditions, as it promotes neuromuscular control, postural stability, and confidence in movement.
Alex has experience working with diverse populations and health conditions, including neurological disorders (such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, and cerebral palsy), paediatric neurological disorders and gross motor development, oncology rehabilitation, athlete development, women’s health conditions, and osteoporosis management. She is passionate about empowering her clients through personalised treatment plans that are not only aligned with clinical guidelines but also tailored to their interests, lifestyles, and long-term health goals.
Committed to continuous professional development, Alex stays up to date with the latest research in exercise rehabilitation, movement therapy, and chronic disease management. Outside of her professional practice, she enjoys running, spending time with family and friends, and reading.

“Exercise Physiology is so much more than telling people what exercises to do, it is incredible to see the change in client’s mindsets and lives. My favourite part is seeing our client’s achieve goals that they never thought they would achieve and watching their confidence and empowerment grow as well. It’s truly a remarkable journey of personal triumph”.
