Hiya Health Labrador Hydrotherapy offers limited spots, currently operating in the heated pools at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre on Marine Parade Southport and the Helensvale Aquatic Centre of Discovery Drive. Hydrotherapy is a type of exercise therapy completed in a pool environment with a trained Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist. You will complete an Initial Assessment with a Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist in-clinic to discuss your injury concern or disability, complete assessments, and complete screening to ensure suitability for hydrotherapy. A plan for your Hydrotherapy will then be organised, before commencing Hydrotherapy sessions.
Hydrotherapy can be an excellent form of therapy for a range of reasons: 1. Pain-relief: The warmth of water, buoyancy effect and reduction in load on painful joints can make it a highly beneficial environment for completing rehabilitation on painful injuries. 2. Improved function: The reduced load can also make it far easier to complete activities for those who struggle to perform tasks on land (eg. walking difficulties due to limb weakness) 3. No falling: Completing rehabilitation in water means there is very little risk of possible injury from falling, making it an excellent medium to complete exercise in for those at falls-risk or who would benefit from balance training. 4. Improved circulation, cardiovascular function, muscle relaxation, stress reduction 5. And many more reasons… Including fun!
Outside of our supervised Hydrotherapy sessions, your Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist may also discuss an independent Hydrotherapy program for you to complete if appropriate for your treatment plan.
